Information Society for all - eInclusion
Conference and Informal Meeting of Ministers,
Riga, 11 - 13 June 2006

Information and communication technologies play a key role in our everyday and working life, in our education, public authorities and at home.

Information and communication technologies (ICT) play a key role in all our daily lives, in our work, education, public services and in our homes.

The European Commission, the Austrian Presidency and the Latvian Government organize this high-level conference and exhibition on the theme

"ICT for an inclusive society".

Practitioners, senior representatives of civil society, representative groups of industry and Ministers from all EU Member States will meet up in

Riga, Latvia, on 11-13 June 2006.

During the conference an Informal Meeting of Ministers will be held on 11 June 2006, where the adoption of a declaration is planned. In this declaration the political guidelines for future action will be determined.

The conference is part of a process, which shall guarantee an information society for all.

The third pillar of the strategy "i2010 – a European Information Society for growth and employment" will pave the way for a European Initiative on eInclusion.

Inclusion is one of the most difficult challenges faced in our society today.  eInclusion offers key opportunities to help meeting this challenge. ICT for an inclusive society is a priority.

Information society for all: ensuring no-one is left behind,
everyone can contribute and participate.

Further information is available on the official conference website of the EU.
