MISSOC meeting – co-financed by the European Commission,
Vienna, 18 – 20 May 2006

The Mutual Information System on Social Protection (MISSOC) has been developed as the central European source of information on social protection legislation in all EU Member States and EEA countries and aims at providing a comprehensive and effective exchange of information between the countries.

Every Member State is represented by two correspondents of the competent ministry. They cooperate directly with the Directorate General "Employment and Social Affairs" of the European Commission and a MISSOC Secretariat appointed by it and provide up-to-date information on national social protection legislation with a view to ensuring the collection and publication of the relevant data.

The MISSOC network meets in the countries holding the EU Presidency in May and October of every year. The meeting under the Austrian Presidency will take place in Vienna from 18 to 20 May 2006. At the meeting current developments in the social legislation of the Member States will be explored and the annual publication of the "MISSOC Information" about topics in the field of social security will be prepared.
