Permanent Intergovernmental Group "L’Europe de l’Enfance",
Vienna, 1 - 2 May 2006

On 1 and 2 May 2006 the Permanent Intergovernmental Group "L’Europe de l’Enfance" will gather for a mutual exchange of information and experience in the field of child rights policy.

This event will offer an opportunity to discuss successful projects and models of Austrian children’s rights policy:

  • The project "Kinder in der Mitte" in Vorarlberg is a regional good practice for a coordinated approach to child policy through networking

  • "Quality4children" is an international project led by SOS-Kinderdorf for the development of quality standards for out-of-home child care

  • "Legal and Psychological Assistance for Children at Court", a pilot project initiated by the Federal Ministry of Social Security, Generations and Consumer Protection and the Federal Ministry of Justice 

An analysis of UN-recommendations commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Social Security, Generations and Consumer Protection will be basis for discussion on associated topics on the European level.

The Directorate General Justice, Freedom and Security of the European Commission will present a draft communication on the rights of children, in which a clear commitment of the European Commission on child policy is expressed.

The aim of this meeting is to make a contribution to a continuously improved child and youth policy all over Europe by exchanging experiences, presenting successful models and considering different forms of cooperation within the EU.
