High Level Group Gender Mainstreaming – co-financed by the European Commission,
Vienna, 12 – 13 January, 2006

The Informal High Level Group Gender Mainstreaming consists of one or two representatives from the responsible departments of the Member States (for Austria that is the Federal Ministry for Social Security, Generations and Consumer Protection, and the Federal Ministry for Health and Women’s Affairs) and meets twice a year at the beginning of a new European Union Presidency in order to support the implementation of the Gender Mainstreaming Strategy in the framework of the Presidential program.

On 12 and 13 January there was a meeting of the High Level Group Gender Mainstreaming for the Austrian Presidency where the plans of the current Presidency as well as the report of the European Commission for the implementation of the Gender Mainstreaming strategy for the European Council have been discussed. Furthermore, the United Nations Commission conference on the Status of Women has been prepared.
